The mundane bog standard transport style armies can get boring. They work the same, mass transport tanks which either units inside shoot from the hatch or the tank itself has some kind of turret. I guess this is how most armies are, at least imperial ones, which makes sense that it's most armies as there are more imperial armies than xeno ones.
So, Grey Knights. Thinking a bit different here and take some units in a different form to what I usually would. I'm thinking Stormravens loaded with Terminators. I'd take double of these units. That's the core of the army sorted.
Now I need some HQ units. A Librarian with shrouding would be useful for when moving those Stormravens flat out, should make sure they arrive to the enemy lines in one piece. I'll also add a Grand Master with psychotroke(broke) grenades, lol, this fella is a one man wrecking machine.
I think it's time to look at ranged support. I think Venerables are going to be too expensive in this list thanks to the Ravens and Terminators costing about 400 points per unit. I'll have to stick to normal Dreadnoughts, which is fine as they will have the normal twin-linked autocannons. They should hit pretty much all the time.
At the moment I only have two troops choices and lets be honest, Terminators aren't going to claim objectives. I'll take four Rhinos with minimum squads of Strike Knights each with a single psycannon. I would like Purifiers, though this means Crowe and I haven't got the points nor the HQ slots spare.
Quickly adding it up I am over by about 200 points. Ok, looks like it's bye bye Grand Master. Shame.

Ok, so the list has two fast moving deathstar units, which thanks to shrouding should be survivable when they move flat out. It has some ranged support with the four psycannons, I know it's not a huge amount, though between them they can put out 16 shots, which isn't too bad, could be better, I guess. Then you've got the Dreadnoughts which are blasting away at the back.
Tactics would be keep the two Stormravens together and move them flat out first turn (don't have to go the full 24", just over 12" will be fine), the Rhinos follow up and pop smoke. If everything is in range, then first turn everything should get a 3+ cover save thanks to shrouding. Just keep in mind you've only got the Dreadnoughts firing first turn and limited fire power from the Stormravens. Hopefully will cause enough damage. Second turn it will be unleash all the guns and drop the Terminators down, just drop them out carefully and think of any repercussions in the opponent's turn.
Anyone run a list like this? Let me hear your thoughts and comments :)
